Visiting Bozeman Montana is not on many people’s bucket lists, especially in March. However, Bozeman is full of exciting things to do and see that no one would never expect from this small city. If you are traveling anywhere near Montana or are looking for a nice long weekend getaway, consider adding Bozeman Montana to your list. It is chocked full of little adventures!
1. Palisade Falls Hike, Frozen Waterfall
If it's a nice day and you’re looking for something fun to do in the mountains, consider hiking up to Palisade Falls. This short .7 mile hike is a rare and beautiful sight to see. It is a huge waterfall, that in March, is completely frozen. The trailhead is about 15-miles from Bozeman, however, you will need a car that has all-wheel drive, or 4-wheel drive to access the trail. The drive is totally worth it! It is full of beautiful mountain peak views, pine forests, and frozen lakes.
2. Bozeman Hot Springs
Bozeman Hot springs are truly magical. For just $8 (for students) you can enjoy unlimited time in outdoor naturally heated hot springs, indoor pools, steam, and dry saunas. Also, some nights they have live music which adds to the ambiance. In March, it is especially amazing because of the amount of steam rising from the pools. It makes you feel like a snow monkey from Japan in the natural steamy hot springs, hiding from the cold winter air.
3. Go skiing at Bridger Bowl
This large and beautiful ski field located just outside of Bozeman is one of the cities main attractions. They have ski slopes for every experience level, gear rental, and lessons. Best of all it is very easy to get to as you can drive or take their shuttle bus which picks up in several locations in Bozeman.
4. Take a drive to Yellow Stone National park
This beloved thermal wonderland of a national park is extremely popular, and in my opinion, is a must-see. Bozeman is a great affordable place to stay if you are looking to spend a day or two in the national park as the park is only an hour's drive from Bozeman. If you are planning to visit in March, be aware of current weather and road conditions as the national park may not have begun to clear the roads. However, if you are planning a visit in the summer, I wish you all the best in exploring one of America's most fantastic national parks.
5. Visit Museum of the Rockies
The Museum of the Rockies is jam-packed with interesting artifacts from native American culture to pioneer history, all the way to a huge exhibit of dinosaurs. They also always have two visiting exhibits and a planetarium. It is a great way to kill a few hours in your day, especially if the weather is not ideal. Did I mention dinosaurs??
6. Hit The Main Street
Main street Bozeman is full of a variety of antique stores, rock shops, gift stores, and bars. It is a great place to pick up some souvenirs or to just spend an afternoon browsing the local businesses. It is a perfect way to see and experience a little bit of Montana culture.
